We need someone to provide good home-cooked, nutritious and tasty food for our residents. Your job will ensure that our residents always have a first-class dining experience, including the environment, taste, choice and service. It will involve the likes of menu planning, preparing, serving and cooking the main meals and snacks, checking quantities and quality of stock and ensuring appropriate hygiene standards are maintained in the kitchen and dining room areas. Our aim is that the food we serve is as good, if not better than the food you’d have at home.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE

• Follow standardised recipes and portion control to ensure consistent food quality and minimise waste
• Garnish and plate meals attractively to enhance the dining experience for residents
• Strictly adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper food storage, handling and sanitation.
• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, including regular cleaning and sanitation of equipment, utensils and workspaces
• Consider any resident feedback and incorporate changes accordingly
• Monitor and manage kitchen inventory, including food and supplies
• Place orders of ingredients and kitchen equipment as needed
• Comply with relevant health and safety regulations and care home policies
• Work cooperatively with kitchen staff, hospitality and other departments to ensure smooth meal service

About You.

• Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or nursing home setting.
• Food Safety Certification Level 3 is required.
• Knowledge of various cooking techniques and a wide range of recipes.
• Familiarity with dietary restrictions and special diets, including knowledge of food allergies and sensitivities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• GSCE (English & Maths) / equivalent.
• Good physical fitness as the role may involve lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment.
