About the Role.
We are looking for Care Assistants to join our friendly and professional team at Hamilton Court Care Home in Armagh. Experience is preferred but not essential, however, you should be warm-hearted, and compassionate, have plenty of ambition and be committed to delivering outstanding care every day.
As a Care Assistant, you will be involved in supporting the daily activities of our residents in a relationship-centred manner; promoting their dignity, independence and well-being and becoming an integral part of their lives. You will work closely with the wider team at our Care Home and will form relationships with the families of our residents.
Whether you have experience or not we will provide a full induction and will provide ongoing training opportunities to support you in developing your career. There’s no limit to how far you can go with us; previous carers have progressed to roles such as Regional Clinical Specialists.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
• Assisting in the direct care provision of all aspects of the service users' assessed needs whilst promoting independence and promoting their dignity at all times
• Assist residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing
• Provide emotional and social support to residents, engaging in conversation, companionship, and recreational activities
• Help residents with mobility and transferring, including using assistive devices like wheelchairs, walkers, or lifts
• Assist residents with meal preparation, feeding, and monitoring dietary needs.
• Conveying relevant information about the service users to the nurse in charge
• Maintain accurate records of care provided, changes in condition, and any incidents or concerns
• Assisting in activities within the Home
• Helping to maintain a safe environment for staff, residents and visitors, through awareness of health and safety policies and by attending training as required.
• To undertake any other duties as required, to keep the Nursing Home running smoothly, as delegated by trained nursing staff or Home Manager.
About You.
• GCSE (English & Maths)
• Completion of a recognised training program is often preferred
• Previous experience as a Care Assistant or a similar role is a plus
• Compassion, patience, and empathy for the elderly and those with health challenges
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical fitness and ability to assist with lifting and mobility
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a healthcare team
• Understanding of confidentiality and respect for residents' privacy
