About the Role.

We are looking for Registered Nurses to join our friendly and professional team at Glenview Care Home, Cabragh.

A Senior Staff Nurse is responsible for the provision and management of nursing care to patients, supervising and guiding junior nurses and nursing students to ensure that optimal care is provided. The individual should be analytical, insightful, systematic, highly motivated, and a good team player with leadership capabilities.


Key Responsibilities

• Coach new staff nurses and nursing students in learning activities.
• Oversee the standard of care provided by care staff and act appropriately.
• Collaborate with inter-professional teams to implement recommended quality improvement plans and interventions.
• Coordinate emergency activities in medical emergencies or crisis situations.
• Deliver evidence-based care in collaboration with inter-professional teams.
• Develop self-management plans to empower patients, family members and caregivers to facilitate participation in their own health management.
• Manage admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
• Manage transition of care coordination within and between teams and across settings.
• Monitor near-misses and error report information and initiate improvement strategies and action plans to improve patient safety practices.
• Monitor performance of nurses in patient care activities and/or delegated tasks.
• Participate in clinical risk and quality improvement initiatives and activities.
• Provide supervision to junior nurses in the development of individualised health education plans.
• Recognise early signs and/or deterioration of patients' condition with appropriate physiological assessments and observations.
• Review clinical performance of nursing students and new nurses.
• Review existing infection control and prevention practices to identify areas of improvement.
• Be willing and available to be part of the on-call rota for the management of the home.
• Implement all safeguarding policies and procedures and act appropriately in the occurrence of any alleged harm / protection issues.
• Carry out clinical audits as part of the governance framework.
• Use available benchmarks to evaluate patient safety practices at the department level.

Health and Safety
 Overall responsibility for Health & Safety within the clinical care team
 Ensure Operational Manager is informed of any incidents in the absence of the Home Manager
 Ensure medicines management are in line with company policies and procedures
 Ensure risk assessments are completed within the home and safe working practices are being followed
 Ensure equipment and environment is safe within the home

About You.

• Hold a current NMC Registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) and provide evidence of continuing personal development.
• Warm-hearted, compassionate and committed to delivering the highest standard of care
• A proven track record of leading, empowering, supporting and motivating a team, demonstrating your strong leadership and management skills.
• Excellent written, non-verbal and verbal communication skills
• A willingness to learn and develop throughout your career with us
• Genuine interest in working with the elderly
