This year's Global Intergenerational Week #GIW24 was a resounding success and our Homes were filled with laughter, creativity and plenty of new-found and blossoming friendships.
Hamilton Court welcomed St Patrick's Primary School children over two days. The first day was dedicated to artistic exploration and the magic of storytelling, while the second day was a delightful showcase of talent. The children's ballet, Irish dancing, singing, and musical performances had our residents beaming. It was truly wonderful to witness these intergenerational friendships blossoming.
The County hosted a unique "Spring Story Swap" with Jones Memorial Primary School, organised by the wonderful Kindness Postbox. This heart-warming initiative saw the children writing the beginnings of stories and our residents were tasked with completing them. Finally, they all got together at the start of the Intergenerational Week to hear the finished tales. These will be available to read in our Home and the School soon!
A huge thank you to everyone who made these events possible; including Linking Generations NI, Nuala at the Kindness Postbox, the teachers, our activity co-ordinator Lucy Hart and of course the stars of the show - the children and the residents!
We'll continue to celebrate our intergenerational friendships throughout the year and look forward to our next adventures with our young friends!
